Face Off with the Future James 4:13-17 3 COMMON MISTAKES TO AVOID
I. MISTAKE #1: PLANNING WITHOUT GOD
THE SOLUTION: Include God in your goal setting.
What you ought to say is, "If
the Lord wants us to, we will live and do this or that."
We may make our plans, but God
has the last word. II. MISTAKE #2: PRESUMING ABOUT TOMORROW
How do you know what will
happen tomorrow? For your life is like the morning fog--it's
here a little while, then it's gone. Otherwise you will be
boasting about your own plans, and all such boasting is evil.
Don't brag
about tomorrow, since you don't know what the day will bring.
Ps. 39:4-6; Ps. 102:3, 11; Job
4:7,9; Ps. 103:15 THE SOLUTION: Make the most of today
So don't worry about
tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries.
III. MISTAKE #3: PUTTING OFF DOING GOOD
Remember, it is sin to know
what you ought to do and then not do it.
THE SOLUTION: Do it now
Do not withhold good from
those who deserve it when it's in your power to help them. If
you can help your neighbor now, don't say, "Come back
tomorrow, and then I'll help you."
Proverbs 3:27-28
Indeed, God is ready to help
you right now. Today is the day of salvation. |
