The Secret of Satisfaction
"Happy are
those whose greatest desire is to do what God requires;
God will satisfy them fully!
Matthew 5:6 TEV
Why are so many people so unsatisfied?
-
You don’t find lasting satisfaction in
Pleasure.
No matter how much we see, we are
never satisfied. No matter how much we hear, we are not content. Ecclesiastes
1:8
The pleasures of sin last a short time
Hebrews 11:25
-
You don’t find lasting satisfaction in
Performance.
So I turned in despair
from hard work. It was not the answer to my search for
satisfaction in this life … So what do people get for all
their hard work?
Their days of labor are filled with pain and grief; even
at night they cannot rest. It is all utterly meaningless.
Ecclesiastes
2:20; 22-23
(Man) is always working,
but never
satisfied
Ecclesiastes 4:8
TEV
-
You don’t find lasting satisfaction in
Possessions.
Those who love money
will never have enough. How absurd to think that wealth brings true
happiness!
Ecclesiastes 5:10
Secret of Satisfaction
Take delight in the LORD, and He will give you your
heart's desires. Psalms 37:4
How to experience satisfaction in life:
-
Recognize my
real hunger.
Yes, he humbled you by
letting you go hungry and then feeding you with manna,
…He did it to teach you that people need more than bread
for their life;
real life comes by feeding on every word of the LORD.
Deuteronomy 8:3
-
Stop eating
junk food.
Why spend your money on
food that does not give you strength? Why pay for food
that does you no good? Listen, and I will tell you where
to get food that is good for the soul!
Isaiah 55:2
-
Start looking to
Christ for satisfaction.
Jesus replied, "I am the bread of life. No one who comes
to me will ever be hungry again. Those who believe in me
will never thirst. …Anyone who eats this bread will live
forever; this bread is my flesh, offered so the world may
live." John
6:35; 51
Your heavenly Father already knows all your needs, and He
will give you all you need from day to day if you live
for Him and make the Kingdom of God your primary concern.
Matthew 6:32-33
Happy are those whose greatest desire is to do what God
requires; God will satisfy them fully. Matthew 5:6 TEV
